Giving back is something very important to me.  Below are examples of some volunteer projects.

Art Meets Design

Judge

I was honoured to be chosen to be a judge for the Art Meets Design competition organized by Artterra and Clavis Studio. It was really fun seeing how interior designers set up spaces using art as their inspiration and focal point.

Story Teller

I participated in the Virtual Humanity event as a Story Teller. I shared my personal quest to live a more sustainable life that is increasingly more gentle on my health, wallet and the environment. In Virtual Humanity audience members select a title from the collection of 30+ “Virtual Humans” in the collection – something that intrigues them, confuses them. They will then proceed into a one-one-one digital face to face conversation with their “Virtual Human”, a person who will share the true personal story that is reflected in their title, over the course of 20 minutes. This is a project designed to shatter preconceived notions about otherhood, to challenge our biases and misunderstandings and put a human face to difference as a means to foster empathy.

Canadian Project Leader

April - June 2020

Over 3000 artists participated this pop-up art event that spanned throughout Canada, United States and Mexico. The event was free for both participants and spectators. I was the Canadian Project Leader being responsible for recruiting artists, securing media coverage (radio, print & television) and executing social media campaigns. We worked closely with local businesses and ambassadors to help spread the word and get people involved. It was a two month project that successfully brought hope and financial support to an industry that has been deeply effected by COVID-19.

RAW Artists Canada Making Masks Initiative

Project Leader

March - May 2020

Alongside my colleague David Pattee we successfully set up a national network of volunteer mask makers, couriers and facilities in need.  The project saw over 15, 000 masks made and delivered to nursing homes and shelters throughout the country. We were able to recruit over 400 mask makers and hundreds of volunteer couriers that picked up and delivered masks to local facilities. It was an intense and meaningful project that demanded 10 hour work days for over 2 months. It was well worth the effort!
